Letter: Dear BOEM

Your project of installing a wind power farm off the coast of Southern Oregon is in total disregard for the environment, economics, and people therein.

I lived in an area of wind farms for over 30 years in California and watched animal life disappear and the birds get slaughtered by whirling blades. Birds do not understand whirling blades. Even the ground worms left the area due to ground vibration from the turbines. Hard to believe, right? All you have to do is put an anti-mole repellent stake in your lawn and the vibrations will chase the worms out in 72 hours.

The vibrations of the offshore turbines will alter the fishing grounds and the migration of whales, tuna, and salmon for years and destroy commercial fishing that feeds millions of people. The turbines will have to be in restricted waters. That will be followed by restricting the waters where the cables are laid (can’t have nets, anchors, et cetera dragged through). Next, your $$$moneymen will have to find land to bring the cabled power on shore thus trashing even more of the scenic coast of Oregon. And where will you house all the needed labor considering the critical housing shortage at this location? Confiscation via eminent domain perhaps?

This is a cruel application of money power that is the precursor of ruin for tourism, economics, and the lives of those who live here by people and bureaucracies who do not live in the West. The power generated will not enhance the coast but travel inland requiring even more construction. One more nail in the coffin: you will have to buy turbines et all from foreign Suppliers.

The only profits will be gained by the financiers, lobbyists, contractors, and suppliers.

Honor the legislation and environmental studies already in place. Pay attention to Tribal concerns as well as both State and U. S. Fish and Game. DO NOT place these wind farms on our Coast!
