Not all foods are created equal, and what some may think tastes great, others completely disagree. Enter Strider and his very delicate palette. This German Shepherd knows what foods he loves and what he absolutely despises.

In one of his latest TikTok reviews, Strider the GSD ( @strider.gsd ) taste tests a few different foods and his reaction is everything. This is the kind of food review we're here for!

In the 3-minute clip captioned, "Strider tries broccoli, cauliflower, and more," the German Shepherd does a taste test of some popular foods. Broccoli, ramen, cauliflower, chicken breast, pineapple, mashed fruit, cheese, and banana are all a part of Strider's special menu.

Though reluctant with many of the foods presented, he gives his best effort to stomach even a lick to appease his human. Save for chicken and cheese, he's just not into it.

Among his 124k followers, many feel for the Shepherd hoping to see Strider get more of the foods he likes and less of those icky bananas.

"Strider is the best! Now I give him some real food!!" one person wrote. "It's the hope thats there might actually be something there that I he does like," another person noted. "A hundred trees of doom!" another joked.

What Foods Should You Avoid Giving Your Dog?

Though dogs are curious about what we're eating and may even beg for food, there are some foods you should never feed them as they could have serious repercussions. According to the ASPCA, some are toxic and can be fatal. Foods to avoid include:

    • Alcohol
    • Avocados
    • Chocolate, coffee and caffeine
    • Citrus, coconut and coconut oil
    • Grapes, raisins
    • Macadamia nuts
    • Milk, dairy
    • Nuts
    • Onions, garlic, chives
    • Raw/undercooked meat, eggs and bones
    • Salt and salty snack food
    • Xylitol
    • Yeast dough

A lot of the symptoms your dog might exhibit from these are similar and may present differently in each dog. Things like vomiting, diarrhea, digestive upset, decreased coordination, central nervous system depression, difficulty breathing, tremors, abnormal blood acidity, coma, and more can come on quickly once they've consumed any of these foods. If you suspect your dog has food poisoning, don't hesitate to call your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435. It could save their life.

As long as you're giving your dog "safe" foods, there should be no issues unless, like Strider, they just don't like the food. In most cases, they're just happy you're offering so play it safe and give them something you know won't make them sick.
