Sarah Becker, Real World Alum, Dead at 52

Sarah Becker, who starred in Season 5 of MTV’s The Real World , has died. She was 52 years old.

A family member confirmed Becker’s death to TMZ on Sunday, saying she died by suicide early last week at her home in Illinois.

Becker was 25 years old when she starred in The Real World: Miami in 1996, alongside housemates Dan Renzi, Melissa Padrón, Joe Patane, Cynthia Roberts, Flora Alekseyeun and Mike Lambert. The season made its mark on the franchise as it was the first time the cast received an assignment to complete during their time living together. The housemates were meant to create a startup business with the help of $50,000, but were ultimately unable to execute the task. Nearly every Real World season thereafter was also given a season-long mission to complete.

During her time on the show, Becker brought home a puppy, named Leroy, and feuded with Padrón. After their argument, Padrón voluntarily moved out of the house, but continued to help the cast work toward finishing their assignment.
