HTL: Jefferson grabs early lead, downs Footville 7-1

JEFFERSON — The Jefferson Blue Devils led from the get-go and Ike Roth pitched a four-hitter in a 7-1 victory over the Footville Outlaws in Home Talent League Baseball action at Fischer Field on Sunday.

Roth scattered four singles and tossed eight scoreless innings before surrendering an unearned run in the ninth. He struck out one and walked one, throwing 63 of his 86 pitches for strikes.

The Blue Devils (6-2) offense greeted Footville starter Evan Senobe with a two-out four-run rally in the first inning.

Roby Schlesner singled and Heath Renz lined a double to right to get the wheels churning on the rally.

Thomas Schlesner dug in next, singling up the middle to plate both runners. Caysen Miller and Logan Wagner went on to draw consecutive bases-loaded walks to push the early margin to four runs.

Zack Peterson led off the Jefferson fourth with a single and came around on Roby Schlesner’s sacrifice fly. Renz added a sac fly of his own to stretch the lead to 6-0.

Four Blue Devils — Renz, Miller, Thomas Schlesner and Jared Vogel — finished with two hits apiece.

Senobe allowed six earned runs on seven hits in four innings in the loss for the Outlaws (3-4). He walked six and struck out five.

Jefferson faces Stoughton next Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fischer Field.
