Power restored to hundreds after severe weather hits Western Pennsylvania

UPDATE 6/24/24 8:50 a.m.: DLC crews have restored all customers in Collier after an outage due to a tree falling, bringing down utility lines, a spokeswoman told Channel 11.
UPDATE 6/24/24 5:30 a.m.: Duquesne Light shows about 860 customers in Collier Township are without power. West Penn says about 34 customers are without power in Allegheny County. Less than 20 customers in each of the following counties are without power: Greene, Washington and Westmoreland.
UPDATE: As of 10:00 p.m., Duquesne Light Company was only showing 37 power outages remaining in their coverage area.
Penn Power was still showing power outages in the hundreds. The number of outages they had were:
Butler County - 94 outages
Greene County - 219 outages
Washington County - 429 outages
Westmoreland County - 517 outages
ORIGINAL COVERAGE: Thousands of people have lost power after severe storms rolled through Western Pennsylvania.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for most of Pennsylvania and warnings were issued for various parts of Washington, Fayette, Greene and Indiana counties several times on Saturday.
As of 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, Penn Power was reporting 366 power outages in Washington. Fayette County had fewer than 20 outages. Greene County had no power outages and Lawrence County had 149 power outages.
Duquesne Light reported heavy outages in the following areas.
- Findlay Township - 24 outages
- Jefferson - 1,056 outages
- McKeesport - 270 outages
Hundreds of power outages were also reported in Moon Township after a tree fell on power lines.
