Country singer Kathy Mattea to perform in Ross County

CHILLICOTHE— Over the summer the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre is home to many performances of the Tecumseh! Outdoor Drama, however, this isn't the only show performed on the mountain. Country and bluegrass singer Kathy Mattea will soon perform on the outdoor stage.

Mattea is a multi-genre artist who has had several of her songs chart on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart she is also a two-time Grammy Award winner and four-time CMA Award winner. She is also the host of the NPR show “Mountain Stage."

Born in West Virginia, Mattea has toured around the area visiting many towns in her over 30 years career. This show in Ross County however will be special as it will be performed outdoors at the amphitheater. When performing Mattea said she likes her shows to feel comfortable like you are inside someone's living room this time she jokes that it will be more like a backyard party.

"It will be fun," said Mattea. "We always have a good time."

The concert will feature a mix of older songs and her new music, Mattea said she may even take some requests from the audience. She enjoys being able to perform live and live with her songs that have been with her for years.

"It is a privilege to get to share this music with people that it means something to," said Mattea.

Tickets for An Evening With Kathy Mattea are still available and can be purchased online now . The show will be taking place on June 30 at the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre.
