A Quiet Place: Day One First Reactions: “Terrifying”, “Tense” and “Raw”

We're just a few days away from discovering what made the world go quiet when A Quiet Place: Day One hits theaters, becoming the third in the franchise started by John Krasinski in 2018.

Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong'o lead this new chapter, with Michael Sarnoski stepping in as director, also penning the script for the story he crafted in collaboration with Krasinski.

Made on a budget of $17 million, Krasinski's A Quiet Place became a critical and commercial hit when it hit theaters in 2018, landing 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossing $340.9 million worldwide.

A Quiet Place: Day One serves as the origin story, and it has had its first audience for critics who are going as far as to say it's their favorite of the three so far.

Other early reactions describe it as "a little less scary" but say that it "brings new thrills and nail-biting suspense", and there are multiple shoutouts for the cat who has been present on many of the marketing campaigns.

Full reviews are still under embargo, but the early reactions suggest that it will land as well as the first two, both of which have scored a Certified Fresh rating.
