Taylor Swift seemed to point to broken wedding plans with Joe Alwyn i n a song from her album The Tortured Poets Department during the UK run of her Eras Tour . In early April last year, reports started suggesting that Taylor and Joe ended their relationship after six years. A source commented at the time: "It was not dramatic. The relationship had just run its course. It's why [Alwyn] hasn't been spotted at any [Eras Tour] shows."

A year later, Taylor shared her feelings about their breakup with her new album and its heart-rendering lyrics. Taylor was in a long-standing relationship with British actor Joe, living with him in London for six years, before a seemingly bitter breakup early last year.

In her track 'So Long, London', which stands in the fifth place on TTPD, we hear Taylor giving a mournful goodbye to their relationship. She sings: "I'm p---ed off you let me give you all that youth for free," reports the Mirror .

She then unveils the dreams she had of them getting married, continuing with: "You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? I died on the altar waiting for the proof." Also in the song, Taylor seems to blast Joe for making her leave the city she treasures. She cries out: "I'm just mad as hell 'cause I loved this place."

This is not the first time that Taylor has suggested her desire to marry Joe in a song. In her Midnights track You're Losing Me, penned in 2021 and released last spring, Taylor sings: "And I wouldn't marry me either / A pathological people pleaser / Who only wanted you to see her."

She seemingly referenced marriage once again in her 2019 title track Lover, from her eponymous album. "Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand? " serenades Taylor in the romantic hit, going on to sing: "With every guitar string scar on my hand / I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover / My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue / All's well that ends well to end up with you / Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover."
