Kamala Harris Harris Roasts Trump for Denying He’s Racist Because He Has ‘Many Black Friends’: ‘It’s Insulting’

Vice President Kamala Harris blasted multiple recent comments made by Donald Trump about Black people, including the former president boasting he has “many Black friends.”
Harris joined Mika Brzezinski on Monday’s Morning Joe for a segment primarily focused on abortion. She was joined by Hadley Duvall , a sexual assault survivor from Kentucky who was abused for years by her stepfather. She discovered she was pregnant at 12 years old. She is now 22, and her stepfather is serving a 20-year sentence.
Duvall called a second Trump term “unimaginable” and claimed women’s lives will be at risk with the abortion restrictions being put in place in red states.
“It does not matter if she is 12, 9, 34 … If there is a woman who is in that reproductive age, then, you know, her life is at stake during this election,” she said.
Harris discussed a few other topics in regards to the election, at one point reacting to two Trump comments about Black voters. The first comment was Trump saying he’s been told his conviction on more than 30 felony counts in his hush money trial makes him more relatable to Black voters because he’s faced discrimination.
“A lot of them feel that similar things have happened to them,” Trump told Semafor earlier this month. “I mean, they’ve expressed that to me very plainly and very clear. They see what’s happened to them.”
He made similar comments at a February campaign stop in South Carolina before his conviction.
“I got indicted a second time and a third time and a fourth time, and a lot of people said that that’s why the Black people like me, because they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against, and they actually viewed me as I’m being discriminated against,” he said .
In the Semafor interview , Trump also boasted about having “many Black friends.”
“I have so many Black friends that if I were a racist, they wouldn’t be friends; they would know better than anybody, and fast,” he said.
Harris condemned the comments as “insulting” and accused Trump of trying to “reduce” Black voters.
“It’s insulting for a number of reasons, including he has reduced a whole population of people down to a sum total of what is in his mind who they are,” she said. “And he’s wrong.”
