    40-year-old man killed in Henry County fatal crash

    HENRY COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR )– Virginia State Police say they are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Spruce Street in Henry County on Friday, June 21.

    According to VSP, the crash happened at 12:07 a.m. when a 2006 Ford F250 was headed eastbound on Spruce Street when the vehicle allegedly crossed the center line and hit a 2012 Jeep Liberty head-on. The impact caused the F250 to overturn and spark on fire, while the Jeep went off the left side of the road.

    State police report the driver of the Jeep, identified as Michael L. Poynter of Martinsville, died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

    Man arrested after triple shooting in Axton

    The driver of the Ford reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

    VSP says this crash remains under investigation and charges are pending. WFXR News will update this story as further information is released.
