A distressed woman is desperately trying to dissuade her husband from the baby name he's chosen, which she detests.

Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to naming babies . Some prefer traditional names that have withstood the test of time, while others lean towards more unique choices.

There's no right or wrong decision as long as both parents are comfortable with the choice.

However, when it comes to inventing a completely unique name, we've all heard some questionable creations. This is the exact predicament one mother is trying to avoid with her husband, who has become "obsessed" with a name she fears will "paint a target" on their child's back.

In a Reddit post, the mom shared her horror when her husband suggested they name their baby "Mips."

When she expressed her dislike for the name, he proposed "Mipsie" as an alternative.

She wrote: "My husband has been obsessed with this name since before we started having children, and will not let it go no matter what I tell him. I think the name is basically painting a target on a kid's back and no one will take them seriously. My husband thinks it's a cute name and will start a naming trend."

"Yes, he's serious. No, I cannot convince him no matter what I say it's terrible."

Commenters on the post urged the mum-to-be to do whatever she can to "save" her baby from her husband's bizarre name choice. Some pointed out that the name sounded like it should mean something rude, while others said Mips would be a "cute name" for a cat but not a baby.

One person wrote: "Not trying to be mean but that must be one of the worst names I've seen on Reddit."

Another added: "Oh no. That is a great name for a cat, a rabbit or a ridiculously fluffy dog. Something small and fuzzy. Not a grown woman. I swear people forget that babies become adults someday and have to be saddled with the absurd names parents thought were adorable embroidered on diaper bags."
