HEMLOCK TWP., COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Both lanes on a section of I-80 in Columbia County were closed due to an overturned tractor-trailer, but have since re-opened.

According to PennDOT, both lanes of Interstate 80 westbound were closed at mile marker 232 (Route 42 / Buckhorn Exit) in Hemlock Township, Columbia County, due to an overturned tractor-trailer.

PSP noted the tractor-trailer was occupied by two people and they suffered minor injuries.

    Summer driving safety awareness

The Montour County EMA reported a propane delivery truck crashed.

A detour using Route 42, Route 11, and Route 54 is in place. I-80 Eastbound is now open while I-80 Westbound is still closed between the Buckhorn and Danville Exits.

“This area is terrible, Danville, with earlier, they had both east and west shut down so Danville got to be really terrible. I just came up Route 11 from 54 and 11 in Danville all the way to the interchange here at 80. It is nothing but wall-to-wall trucks,” said Fred Walter, a truck driver.

Drivers should be alert, and expect delays in travel as I-80 westbound is expected to be shut down for a significant time.
