Maine Coon Kittens Taste Test Popular Human Foods and Give Dog Sibling Major FOMO

When it comes to feeding your cats, you're probably going to offer them something similar every day. My cats are creatures of habit, and will only eat the same flavor of food, day after day — seems boring to me, but it works for them. However, that level of pickiness about cat-specific food definitely hasn't stopped them from trying to steal any human food they can get their paws on. Some foods they'll straight up ignore, but if anyone is eating chicken anywhere in the house... watch out. Anything that looks like a vegetable, though? Pass.

So it's interesting to see how different cats react to table foods that they normally wouldn't be served on a regular basis. This cat mom certainly seemed to think so, and conducted a taste test of her own.

On Sunday, June 23, @spaghettiandjet shared this video of her Maine Coon kittens,  Spaghetti (who is seven months old) and Jet (who is 10 months old), sitting side by side at the kitchen counter as they taste tested different foods.

It's so interesting to see how they each responded to all of the different foods — and to each other. The first food served was scrambled eggs, and just when Spaghetti went to take his first bite, Jet knocked it off the counter. That's okay, though, because Spaghetti immediately went to eat Jet's eggs. LOL!

Spaghetti seemed to go straight for most of the foods, while Jet was more cautious, pawing at them first before taking a bite.

The only foods that are definite nos for these boys were spinach, cucumber, and vegan chicken. And at the end, they were each served half of a Publix sub... and Spaghetti absolutely went to town. Lucky cat!

Human Food That Is Safe for Cats

If you want to do a similar taste test for your cats, it's important to know which foods are safe for them to eat.

According to Chewy, the list of safe foods for cats includes many of the foods from the video, if you're curious to see how your kitties would react to them, including spinach, cheese, bread, and turkey.

You can also let them sample some salmon and chicken for a little extra protein, along with oatmeal, pumpkin, peas, watermelon, and more. There are a lot of options, though you will want to make sure these foods are given in moderation so no one ends up with an unhappy stomach.

Remember to have fun with it. Your cats might not like any of the foods, or they might love them all... but it will be so cool to see what their tastes are!
