Bindi Irwin’s Latest Squabble With Brother Robert Irwin Proves Sibling Rivalry Never Truly Goes Away

Siblings fights like cats and dogs (or maybe crocodiles and sharks? ), and if anyone would know, it’s the Irwins. The late Steve Irwin and Terri Irwin’s kids Bindi, 25, and Robert, 20, seem like the best of friends as they promote wildlife conservation, but don’t be fooled. They can get into some friendly competition and sibling rivalries just like the rest of us. And their latest banter gives us hope for even the most combative of kids!

It all started when Robert announced some exciting news: he was honored for two Logie Awards, which are Australian TV awards hosted by TV Week, for his work as host of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! alongside Julia Morris. “So honoured to be nominated at this years Logie Awards for the Gold Logie and the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter,” he wrote on Instagram , adding that nabbing this nomination for the first time was a “dream come true ☺️”

His older sister showed up with support in the comments. “CONGRATULATIONS @robertirwinphotography & @ladyjuliamorris cheering for you both!🎉💛” she wrote.

But despite her support, Bindi couldn’t help giving her brother a little playful ribbing. She shared a throwback post of herself holding her own Logie Award. “Hey Australia, vote for my awesome brother so he can catch up to me 16 years later …” she quipped in the caption . Not Bindi flexing her own award in a post about her brother! Iconic older sister behavior.

They got into a little spat in the comments, which Robert shared a screenshot of on his Instagram . Robert had commented on his sister’s post, writing, “At least mine’s gold 😏” referencing the fact that his sister had won the Silver Logie for best new female talent in 2008 for her work in Bindi: The Jungle Girl.

She replied, “You haven’t won it yet… 😂” Yeah, bro! You can’t brag about something that’s not even yours yet! He fired back, “Well actually, I did get nominated for 2 Logies. Hahahaha Soooo…. 🤷‍♂️😂😂” Ooh, burn !

Bindi had the last word though (typing this as a proud older sister myself!). “Sorry, I can’t hear you over my Emmy award…” she responded, shutting down the whole fight with this ultimate win. In fact, when she won at age 9, she was the youngest performer ever to win a Daytime Emmy Award, which she won for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series.

Knowing he was defeated, Robert commented, “Dang it 🤦‍♂️.” In his post, he captioned the screenshot: “Ok uh… really gonna need that Logies vote now guys 😂😂😅 it just got real.”

Their mom commented, “This is hilarious!” Ever the peacemaker, she also commented on Bindi’s original post writing, “I am so proud of you both!”

“I’m here for the quality sibling banter 😂” someone else commented. One person wrote, “No matter who you are, sibling relationships are the same.”

Another joked, “Bindi’s emmy award mysteriously appears, polished and shined on the mantle after a decade 👀” Someone else said, “Bindi ate and left no crumbs, she’s got you there Rob 😹”

Despite their rivalry, these two clearly have the greatest love for each other. On Robert’s birthday in December, Bindi shared a childhood photo when they were 10 and 5. In it, Robert wore a tiger t-shirt that said “Bindi” on the front, and she wore a similar blue-and-white “Bindi” shirt with a denim skirt and boots. Her arm rested over his head in the cute snap.

Then she wrote “Fast forward 15 years later,” this time showing Bindi and Robert now. Her hands rest on his shoulders as he stands about a foot taller than her. “Now I’m standing on my tiptoes to take a photo with you,” she wrote. “Happy birthday to the best. 20 years, and a lifetime of adventures ahead of you – remember, you can always call your sister,” she added. “Love you @robertirwinphotography .”

One thing’s for sure: these two win the award for best sibling duo!
