Everybody knows that little ones can get a bit defiant when they hit toddlerhood. Nobody is surprised when a 2-year-old is uncooperative or a 3-year-old throws a tantrum. But the truth is that even younger babies can be pretty stubborn sometimes, too!

In an adorable video posted on June 22, a mother catches her 10-month-old daughter doing something she's not supposed to do. The little girl is determined to turn on the water in the bathtub, even though mom keeps telling her not to do it...and she doesn't seem to show any signs of wanting to listen!

"Always in my water," wrote Taylor Nicole Foiles . She was 100% unbothered! And while it would be tempting to say that she's too young to understand that she's doing something she's not supposed to, her cute smirk suggested otherwise (as commenters noted).

"That little girl understood every word you said lol," wrote starfire031.

    "Cute little stinker," wrote jillarmbruster1.

Those teenage years are bound to be a rollercoaster ! Of course, challenging (and hilarious) though it may be, experts say this behavior is totally normal for toddlers.

How to Handle a Stubborn Toddler

"Being strong-willed or stubborn is a common part of toddlerhood ," according to What to Expect.

"Toddlers are very curious and want to explore the physics of their world. They're in the process of testing the limits: of their environment, their parents and themselves. Coupled with this adventurous drive are developing (and sometimes insufficient) communication and physical skills, which can ramp up the frustration ."

One of the best things you can do for a strong-willed toddler is to give them choices , which will help them to feel more empowered and in control.

"You get to manufacture the choices so that the end goal is still the same. Ask your tot if she wants to hold her stuffy while you buckle her in or after you buckle her in. She's still getting buckled in that car seat either way, but she got to have a say."

When it comes to teaching toddlers what's acceptable, consistency is key.

"Just remember that at this age, toddlers are still learning about the connection between actions and consequences. Patience, repetition and calm but firm enforcement of the rules of the road will help your toddler learn the boundaries and routines of her daily life. While she may test these boundaries, the consistency provides a sense of safety and security."

That's why the mom in this video is probably going to have to tell her daughter to stop turning on the water another thousand times or so before the lesson finally sinks in!
