    Sheriff K9 dies of suspected heat-related injuries, investigation launched

    (FOX40.COM) — An investigation has been launched into the off-duty death of a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office K9.

    The sheriff’s office said the K9 Brando died on Saturday during an off-duty incident where he was found unresponsive.

    Brando later passed away from what the sheriff’s office believes was heat-related injuries.

    “We are committed to thoroughly understanding what happened and taking the necessary steps to prevent such a tragedy from occurring in the future,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.
