A crisp, white button-down shirt will always look great, but if we want to wear the look in the summer, we need styles that keep us cool . Cotton is great, but we much prefer the lighter feel of linen when temperatures soar.
We spotted exactly what we have in mind at Old Navy with this linen-blend, button-down shirt that thousands of shoppers are obsessed with. The wardrobe "classic" is a favorite with reviewers, and it can easily pass for a more expensive designer version.
Linen-Blend Button-Down Boyfriend Shirt, $40 at Old Navy
This top's cut is very simple, but that doesn't mean it's not chic as hell. The long sleeves are cuffed at the wrists, it has a collar at the neckline and buttons that run down the front, plus one square pocket on the side. What's slightly different about this style is the fit: It's got that looser, so-called "boyfriend" cut that's perfect for the summer. You can wear it as-is or tucked into high-waisted bottoms to give your ensemble more shape.
Reviewers call this top "lovely" and say that it's "beyond gorgeous" in person. Not only does it look great, it's incredibly versatile. Shoppers say they can style it to look professional or wear it as a cute beach cover-up with some comfy shorts. Because it's such a staple, many reviewers say they're flocking to pick it up in multiple colors. There are seven shades to choose from, plus two striped options, and we're obsessed with them all.
Out of all of the options, the white button-down shirt has the most high-end vibe in our opinion. We're guessing no one will be able to tell that this top cost only $40, especially when compared to similar styles we've found from designer brands. One button-down that we found at Theory is far more expensive, but looks nearly identical to the Old Navy version.
Both of these button-downs are made from a lightweight linen material and have the same relaxed fit. They look equally as upscale, but the Old Navy style is far more attainable. If you're in need of this summer staple, we're going to pick up the affordable white choice, and maybe add a couple of other colors to our carts while we're at it.
