The Internet might be a nasty place, but sometimes we happen upon tiny wholesome corners and those are what keep us coming back. From that one grandmother who painted her grandchildren’s art on her walls to the mom showing off her adorable watering hack , we just can’t get enough of these older individuals showcasing their skills and expertise.

Speaking of expertise, this man right here is the embodiment of the word. Ever since the year 1951, when he was only thirteen years old, he has been planting, raising, and harvesting tomatoes. Now at the age of 90, this means his garden has been in full swing for over 70 years. This man is adorable!

When TikTok user @grainfreehomestead posted this simple and sweet vide of his adorable 90-year-old friend Doug, we doubt he expected it to go quite this viral. It hasn't even been 24 hours since he posted it and the video already has nearly half a million views! Clearly people are enamored with Doug and once you see the video, you can totally see why.

How Doug Has Kept His Tomatoes for Over a Half Century

Doug has not one, not two, but three rows of tomato plants growing on the side and in the front of his yard. And this isn't the first year he's been growing them! Doug is 90 years old and he has been raising these plants since he was only 13 years old. Around 73 years total of yearly tomatoes. Now that is some serious dedication.

Now when you look at Doug's garden beds, you can tell this guy already has a clear system for what he likes to do. As the tomatoes grow, he knows they'll need a place to hang so he stuck pieces of black rebar into the dirt behind each seedling. He also chose to paint the rebar white so that it doesn't get as hot during the summer. Genius!

You might be wondering, as we were, what those plastic bottle are overtop. They're not for watering!

As the tomato plants grow, Doug will have to tie them back to the rebar, so he made individual string dispensers out of plastic water bottles and hung them upside down over each plant. He even included a pair of scissors with every station! No more forgetting where he put the string or the scissors, because he's got it all right here.

It's quite clear Doug loves his produce so much and will do just about anything to help them thrive.

The viewers were obsessed with him!

"Doug is working smarter not harder," admired @badmamajama79. "This is the best kind of knowledge, years of wisdom and experience," commented @ffamily1988. "Doug is a national treasure," wrote @sierraloudermilk.

We hope we see Doug live through many more tomato seasons.
