    🎈NAACP moves Juneteenth festival indoors

    The heat is roaring back with a forecast high today of 92 degrees and a low tonight of 71. There's also a seemingly tropical 50% chance of a thunderstorm.

    The Rev. Solomon Woodson gave the invocation at the Fremont Juneteenth Celebration at the Fremont Recreation Center Saturday.

    Cassandrea Tucker, president of the Fremont Chapter of the NAACP, spoke at the Fremont Juneteenth Celebration that included numerous speakers, musical acts, fun activities for kids and renewals of friendships, with many new friends made throughout the day.

    Mailbag: Riverfront Live music series update

    The mailbag had a request for the next several shows with the Port Clinton Riverfront Live series.

    Riverfront Live is a summer concert series celebrating its 10th anniversary. The event takes place Fridays through the end of August from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Performers set up in the Port Clinton Entertainment District in front of the stage.

    Here are the next four acts.

    June 28: Ottawa County Blue Grass Band

    The Ottawa County Blue Grass Band has been playing together since the late 90's. The band has plays fairs, festivals and other venues in the Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, bringing their own brand of bluegrass music and making new fans and friends wherever they go.

    July 5: Mike "Mikey Blue" Barone

    Mikey “Blue” Barone is a blues musician and a Port Clinton resident. He is a highly requested blues harmonica player who also plays acoustic guitar and piano. He has performed numerous times at Riverfront Live. His recordings are available on Spotify.

    July 12: SeaJamz7

    Seajamz7 grew out of a group of friends playing jazz at Terra State Community College and a desire to have Sunday after jazz by the water. These musician friends got together with four horns and a rhythm section, so seven players made sense. They play a variety of styles and genres including jazz, rock, R&B and blues.

    July 19: Jamey Hensley

    Jamey Hensley will play a solo show but is recognizable for bass and guitar chops that he displays with many other local bands including Crazy Eddie, The Junk, JK RAZZ and filling in for other local favorites Corduroy Road and BarCode.
