A dog mom to a very adorable Pug shared a brilliant hack for how to get your dog to sit while getting their hair brushed, and it works brilliantly.

On June 20, 2024, TikTok user Shayne (@goth_pack) shared a video of their silly Pug named Gus, who hates being brushed. Take a look!

In a 20-second video, we meet Gus, a black Pug with the cutest face and a lot of attitude when it's time for a grooming.

    Related: He's so disappointed!

But, Gus' creative mom has found a way to trick him into getting his coat brushed, and it's funny and smart.

"Our Pug hates being brushed, but there's one trick that always works..." the text on the screen reads.

In the clip, when Mom tries to brush Gus, he spins and twists and tries to bite at the brush.

But Mom has the perfect solution, and it's making us laugh. She uses Gus' brother.

"We just have to start brushing our other dog until the Pug gets jealous and wants the attention on him."

And that's what we saw happen. Mom stopped trying to brush Gus and went over to his sibling dog, who was minding his own business. Mom started to brush his coat, and sure enough, Gus came by.

Gus then stands between the brush and his sibling, and Mom starts to brush his coat. Magically, Gus is happy to stand still and allow Mom to remove any knots or debris.

"The Pug manipulates us, so we do it back!" the video's caption jokes.

In the comment section, people had a lot to say about this funny Pug hack.

"Why do they do this," one commenter questioned. "My pug always demands equal opportunity."

"I would so try this, but the other dog is a Pug too," someone else joked.

"Can totally relate, when my little dog Billie Jean won’t come inside, I start saying loudly out the door, 'Bowzer such a gooood boy.' And here she runs," another dog mom shared.

"We just adopted a foster Pug and have this issue," shared another viewer. "She’s a sassy lady and I know for a fact this is the solution!"

How Often Should You Groom Your Pug?

According to ABK Grooming , Pugs have a "thick coat of coarse hair," and although it's short, it still requires some additional grooming.

They suggest you brush your Pug's coat from head to tail, including the legs, every 1-3 days.

"Because of the heavy coat, many of the fallen hairs will end up in the coat itself. Left in the coat, the fallen hair will block proper airflow and eventually become weaved in with live hair," the site explains.

Other grooming tasks that should be scheduled for your Pug include a bath every 2-4 weeks, cleaning out their wrinkles daily, and their eye area, too. Trimming their nails and their ears every six weeks, and making sure to check their paws, too.
