A London residence once home to Princess Diana’s father and stepmother has made a rare appearance on the market.

The five-bedroom property, located in the posh Mayfair area, hasn’t been available for purchase in over two decades and is now seeking $13.89 million.

Built in the early 1980s, the four-story townhouse at 24 Farm Street was first linked to the late Lady Di back in 1990, when her father, Earl Spencer, bought it as a gift for her stepmother, Countess Raine Spencer (or, as Diana famously referred to her, “Acid Raine”).

Upon Earl Spencer’s death two years later, Raine assumed full ownership of the property. Not long after, in the brief period between the Princess of Wales’ 1996 divorce from Prince Charles and her tragic 1997 death, she became a frequent visitor of the property, according to press materials.

Raube kept the abode, sized at just under 4,900 square feet, until the early 2000s, when she moved to a red brick mansion flat in Grosvenor Square. It was eventually sold to the art collectors Alan and Mary Hobart.

The house is now being sold by the Hobarts’ executors, Alan having passed away in 2021 and Mary in February of this year. Wetherell and Chestertons hold the listing.

“On the market for the first time in 22 years, this impressive house located in the heart of Mayfair has had two prominent owners, Countess Raine Spencer and the Hobarts,” Wetherell founder and executive chairman Peter Wetherell commented in a statement.

“When Countess Spencer owned 24 Farm Street, guests included her stepdaughter Diana, Princess of Wales, Count Jean-François Pineton de Chambrun, Mohammed Al Fayed and celebrity hairdresser Peter Constandinos. When the house was owned by the Hobart family the walls showcased many prestigious artworks and the property served as a private art museum.”

The cream-stucco domicile features sash windows, a south-facing roof terrace, patios and a private garage in an underground car park that is a separate entity but included in the listing.

As well, it has a drawing room and library, three bedroom suites — two on the second-floor and one on the top floor, all with ensuite bathroom and walk-in dressing rooms — and multiple street entrances.
