PIERRE, S.D. (KCAU) — South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has announced that she has signed an executive order intended to allow more supplies to be transported through the state in response in severe flooding.

According to a release, Executive Order 2024-05 grants an “hours-of-service waiver for certain products being transported through South Dakota.” This is to make sure the delivery of necessary supplies is not impeded by federal regulations restricting drivers’ working hours.

Fatigued drivers will still not be required to make deliveries. All other safety and vehicle compliance regulations remain in effect, the release stated.

The order will be in effect for 14 days, expiring on July 8.
