Garfield Heights, OH. - State Representative Darnell Brewer will bring a Health Roundtable and Resource Fair to Garfield Heights, featuring Angela Dawson, Director of the Ohio Commission of Minority Health for the State of Ohio.

On Friday, June 28th, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Director Dawson will join Brewer for a roundtable discussion. The event will center on opportunities and grants that the State, County, and Local Communities have to offer individuals and businesses.

Brewer says, "This event and similar initiatives are crucial in addressing health disparities. Underserved communities can only improve with accessible resources. According to the census, over 77% of people in Cuyahoga County rely on blood pressure medication. Our responsibility is to support those who may lack consistent access to quality care."

Immediately following the roundtable discussion, Brewer will launch the Health and Resource Fair. "We believe that hosting this Health Resource Fair is crucial in raising awareness about available health resources in our county. Many individuals are unaware of where to seek help or what resources are accessible to them, added State Rep Brewer.

The Health Fair and the Roundtable are free and open to the public. They will be held at the Garfield Heights Civic Center, 5407 Turney Road, Garfield Heights, Ohio 44125.

"The community can expect diverse, supportive organizations, from the Cleveland Food Bank to the Cleveland Fatherhood Initiative, all dedicated to meeting their needs. We aim to empower the community to embrace healthier lifestyles through events like these. We are dedicated to building a stronger, more knowledgeable, and resilient community by facilitating open discussions and providing education on resources such as grants. Registration is not required. All are welcome to attend to learn about the resources available and speak with representatives from various agencies," said Brewer.
