Princess Anne’s Neighbor Reveals What Happened in Scary Moments After She Was Kicked by Horse

Buckingham Palace announced that Princess Anne was admitted to hospital after she suffered injuries including concussion at her Gloucestershire estate. King Charles’ sister was out for a walk around her residence on June 23 when she was reportedly kicked by a horse.

In a statement the Palace said: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.”

Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, has been by her side at the hospital. And while the princess is thought to be OK at this time, a witness is recounting the scary scene he saw unfold near her home and “thought the worst.”

Witness ‘thought the worst’ after seeing a police helicopter at Princess Anne’s residence

A man who lives near Princess Anne’s estate spoke to Express about what he saw in the moments after the incident occurred.

“I saw an air ambulance landing on her estate and I thought ‘Oh my goodness, I hope it’s not Anne,'” the neighbor recalled. “Then the police helicopter started circling about 10 minutes later and I thought the worst. I thought something awful must have happened and I was worried a criminal might be on the loose, but the police helicopter was off pretty quickly.”

The local added: “The air ambulance was on the ground for about 40 minutes I think — I’m not sure if it took her to hospital … I really hope she’s going to be OK.”

Grant Harrold was King Charles’ butler from 2004 to 2011. He remembered Anne being just like her father, Prince Philip , and has that same attitude to power through anything.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo , Harrold explained: “You only have to look at footage of her from over the years, and she just doesn’t let anything faze her. I met with her on many occasions when I worked with the now king, and I really liked how straight-talking she was with everyone. She was like her father, Prince Philip, in that sense — but without the swearing.”

On her doctor’s advice, the Princess Royal postponed her engagements for the week while she recovers. But Harrold says she will be right back to it next week as long as she feels fine because she is the hardest-working member of the family.

“Anne undertakes more engagements than anyone,” the former royal aide said. “In some years she’s done 500 odd engagements, and the king has done 400 odd engagements. She has definitely been the hardest-working royal for many, many years. She often does double the amount of engagements compared to William and Catherine.

“I really like Princess Anne, I’ve got a lot of time for her. She’s an amazing grafter, she’s somebody who gets stuff done. She’s like her father, no-nonsense, and says as it is, but she gets the job done. Like her mother, she’s very happy to put duty before everything, and that’s what she does.”
