Just last month, the star shared a series of pictures and videos of herself crying to her Instagram page alongside the caption: “Tell me you have a graduate without telling me you have a graduate. 🎓 (bless our hearts 🥺♥️🤣)”

In the first photo, Jennifer’s face is crumpled as she cries while applauding during a high school ceremony. In another picture, she is wiping tears from her eyes while outside.

Appearing on the daytime show alongside her own mom, Pat Garner, Jennifer said: “My eldest is about to go to college.”

“I was a wreck the whole month leading up to [Violet’s graduation],” she added. “Every awards ceremony, every final everything, I just cried at everything.

“I cried on planes trying to think about it,” Jennifer went on, before admitting: “Then the day of was so happy that there was nothing to be other than just so proud and happy.”

And Pat resonated with her daughter, admitting to the hosts that she “howled” when Jennifer went away to college because she feared she would never come home again.

Jennifer is also anxious about Violet flying the nest, and while it isn’t confirmed which college Violet will be attending, she was previously spotted wearing a Yale sweatshirt.

Jennifer isn’t the first star to open up about this tough part of parenting, with Brooke Shields going viral in 2022 when she broke down in tears in a TikTok video after her daughter Rowan left the family home to return to college after the summer.

“I thought it would be easier the second time because she’s already been away and she’s been with me all summer,” Brooke said through her tears in the video.

Brooke also confessed that she didn’t make the drive to college with her husband, Chris Henchy, this time around because she found leaving Rowan on campus “too painful.”
