Parents everywhere can probably relate to Hollywood star Jennifer Garner a little more than usual this week after she admitted she was a “wreck” ahead of her eldest daughter’s high school graduation.
Jennifer shares 18-year-old Violet, 15-year-old Seraphina, and 12-year-old Samuel with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck , and she has been seriously emotional over the prospect of Violet going away to college.
Just last month, the star shared a series of pictures and videos of herself crying to her Instagram page alongside the caption: “Tell me you have a graduate without telling me you have a graduate. 🎓 (bless our hearts 🥺♥️🤣)”
In the first photo, Jennifer’s face is crumpled as she cries while applauding during a high school ceremony. In another picture, she is wiping tears from her eyes while outside.
In the third photo, Jennifer is crying on an airplane. There is also a video of her from the plane in which she tearfully asks: “How are we going to make it? What are we going to do?”
The final picture shows Jennifer looking sad while wearing a pair of 2024 sunglasses, suggesting that she had been emotional about Violet’s summer graduation since the new year.
And now, Jennifer has opened up some more about her parenthood turmoil during an interview on Today with Hoda and Jenna .
Jennifer isn’t the first star to open up about this tough part of parenting, with Brooke Shields going viral in 2022 when she broke down in tears in a TikTok video after her daughter Rowan left the family home to return to college after the summer.
“I thought it would be easier the second time because she’s already been away and she’s been with me all summer,” Brooke said through her tears in the video.
Brooke also confessed that she didn’t make the drive to college with her husband, Chris Henchy, this time around because she found leaving Rowan on campus “too painful.”
