    Severe Weather Threat and Heat Advisory for Southwest Iowa

    (Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the southwest Iowa counties of Pottawattamie, Cass, Mills, Montgomery, Adams, Union, Ringgold, Taylor, Page, and Fremont.

    The forecast high temperature for today is 92 degrees, with dew points reaching the 70s. According to the Weather Service, Heat Index Values are expected to reach 106 degrees.

    Meanwhile, the National Weather Service says scattered severe thunderstorms are possible today. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. The storms are forecast to develop later this afternoon, continue through tonight, and then push south.
