Perhaps one of the world’s most prestigious makers and marketers of luxury cars has decided to go green, replacing mighty engines with an EV-based model. Ferrari started to build high-speed cars in 1939. CNBC states, “The electric model’s launch is scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2025 and has already sparked debate in the automotive community and among car collectors.” The most expensive Ferraris cost well over $500,000 and are prized for their 700 horsepower engines, among the most powerful in the world.

The 2024 Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a plug-in hybrid with a price of $528,764. It gets a range of 44–51 MPG combined. The 2024 Ferrari 812 costs $433,765, and it gets an EPA mileage of only 13 MPG.

Ferrari buyers do not seem the sort that would worry about gas prices

Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna expressed modest reservations but was optimistic. “More people have started to drive our electric Ferrari, and they have a good feeling. The driving traits are there.”

Climatecrisis247 believes this is a risk that the high-end sports car is willing to take because it sees EVs as a significant part of the future of car engines. There is a risk that in a soft EV market, it will launch the car too soon.
