LeBron James Jr . is one of the most high-profile players in this year's NBA Draft, commencing Wednesday at the Barclays Center. However, despite his lofty status, the young guard is under no pretenses he will become a high draft pick. According to his agent and close friend, Rich Paul , the only thing the 19-year-old hopes for this week is for a team to call his name.

"I sat with him in my office, and I said to him, 'Bronny, what's important to you?' You know what he said to me? 'Man, Rich, I just want to hear my name called,'" Rich shared to Gilbert Arenas on the latest episode of "Gil's Arena."

    An inescapable legacy

For young Bronny, the shadow his superstar father, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, casts over him simply cannot be escaped. It went with him to USC, where he had a tepid one-and-done season, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists. It also followed him to the NBA Combine, where he had mixed performances in the drills and scrimmages. However, James Jr. is determined to make his name in the league, regardless of the expectations and comparisons that come with his father's legacy.

Rich added that his conversations with the younger James didn't involve setting a goal of becoming a high draft pick. Instead, all Bronny wants is for a team to believe in him enough to select him in the draft.

"He didn't say, 'I want to go number one, number 15, number 30.' He said, 'I just want to hear my name called.' That is perspective, right?" the high-powered agent stated.

Fortunately, Bronny is not alone in his pursuit. He is bolstered by a strong support base led by his father and Rich.

"So, I root for that, whether his name was Bronny James or Jesse James. I root for that and all these young men because, again, in life, all you want is a starting point. There's a lot of people out here that do not have a starting point and there's no easy path to life. Anytime a young man or woman can get a starting point in life, it's our duty to embrace that and push them as far as we possibly can. That's it," Rich remarked.

Find a role and be the best at it

Paul boasts of an All-Star client list that includes LeBron, Zach LaVine, Draymond Green, and Anthony Davis. While he's well-versed in how NBA superstars operate in the league, Rich also knows what average NBA players must do to remain relevant in this cutthroat league.

"In the NBA, for all young kids out there, whether you're ranked number one or 1,001, in order for you to be successful in the NBA, you have to find a role," Rich emphasized. "Most guys that play in the NBA play a role. Most actors and actresses that play in movies play a role. There are very few stars. Focus on a role that allows you to gain value, and that value allows you to have consistency over a number of years."

"Then it starts over as your contracts expire. The things you do as a professional—your habits, your approach, your practices, and things like that—allow you to have longevity," he continued.

There are many questions surrounding Bronny's professional future. However, once a team takes a chance on the young James, the answers will soon begin to reveal themselves.
