Golden Retrievers are literally down for anything almost all of the time. Walk? Let's go. Hiking? Sure. Swimming? Sign them up! If you're an active person looking for a furry friend to bring on all your adventures, a Golden Retriever is probably at least on your list.

For one Golden Retriever on Sunday, June 23rd, his afternoon run didn't quite go according to plan. He may have run into a moose, and he seems like he doesn't want any trouble, but he still has to protect his human:

Bring The Dog is all about, well, bringing the dog places. A quick run down a trail is an excellent way for your Golden Retriever to get some exercise, and apparently, so is finding a moose there.

Goose loves to be outside. His parents are big outdoorsy people, and he gets to go with them on all of their adventures with his Golden Retriever brother, Griffey. During the winter, they did a lot of sledding and skiing, and even though Golden Retrievers aren't typically built for snow, they always enjoyed themselves. Now that it's warming up, they're having the most fun ever on hikes, runs, and beach days!

You can't be outside as much as Goose and Griffey are and not encounter wildlife, though. On this day, they just so happened to stumble across a baby moose, and Goose did the right thing! He hid in the bushes, but can still be seen whisper-barking. He's committed to protection and staying safe all at once!

How to Bring Your Dog Out Safely

This page is dedicated to showing off that it is absolutely possible to bring your dog with you, and Griffey and Goose show everyone that it's much more fun than being stuck home with a sitter. Goose is obviously an expert on safety, but that can take years to master. When you're getting ready to bring your dog somewhere, you should always:

    1. Make sure the place is pet-friendly.
    2. Check the leash policy.
      1. If your dog doesn't have good recall , leash them no matter what.
      2. Depending on breed, some places may have a muzzle policy, too.
    3. Bring supplies like food, water, booties just in case, waste bags, and treats.
    4. Be watching your surroundings for animals that might set off your pup.
    5. If it's a new setting your dog has never been, ask your vet if it's a good idea.
    6. For indoor settings, take frequent breaks for the pup to get outside.

Bringing your dog with you is one of life's simple pleasures, but it's also something you have to think a lot about before you do it. When you start taking your dog with you, you have to remember that there may be other people and dogs there, and they deserve to have a good experience, too!
