Seth Binzer, who rose to fame under the name Shifty Shellshock as the frontman for rap rock band Crazy Town, has died. He was 49 years old.

According to the website for the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner , Binzer was found in his residence. A cause of death has not yet been determined.

Crazy Town released its debut album, The Gift of Game, in November 1999 and would go on to support Red Hot Chili Peppers on tour. The album's single "Butterfly" became the band's signature hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and helping The Gift of Game go Platinum.

The band's sophomore failed to find the same level of success, and the group would break up soon after its release. Shellshock's solo career included an appearance on Paul Oakenfold's “Starry Eyed Surprise,” reaching No. 41 on the Hot 100 chart, as well as the solo album Happy Love Sick .

Outside of music, Binzer struggled with addiction, and appeared on multiple rehab-based reality series including VH1's Celebrity Rehab 1 and 2 and Sober House 1 and 2.

He is survived by his three children, Halo, Gage and Phoenix.
