Funny Golden Retriever 'Dodges' Day Care Workers Because He Doesn't Want to Go Home

When it comes to doggy daycare, there are two types of dogs: Those who hate being separated from their people and dread every minute of it, and those who love it so much they practically have to be dragged out of there when their humans show up to take them home. Each type can be a bit of a hassle in its own way, but at least a dog who loves daycare too much is a good problem to have — then, you can rest assured that your dog is feeling loved and safe and having fun when you can't be with them yourself.

However, that doesn't mean that they're going to make pick up time easy on you! And in the case of the dog in this TikTok video, it can even become a bit of game (and the dog is winning).

On Saturday, June 22, @adventuresofpilot shared a peek at what happens when she picks up her dog, a Golden Retriever named Pilot, from doggy daycare at Pet Paradise. Spoiler alert: Pilot is not going to go quietly!

"When you pick your dog up from daycare and you catch him dodging the workers 'cause he doesn't want to leave," Pilot's mom wrote.

Sure enough, that's what he's doing. The dogs are all in the pool, so I can understand why he doesn't want to leave... but he's also the only one who refuses to get out of the pool, swimming all over so that no one can get to him.

This is basically exactly what it's like to get a human child out of a pool, too — just about impossible!

Finally, a worker was able to get close enough to put his leash on and get him out of the pool that way, but I'm sure it wasn't the way he wanted things to go!

Sending Your Dog to Doggy Daycare

Since I've always worked remotely, I've never had the need to use doggy daycare for my dog, though I bet she does get tired of me!

And while many people choose to use dog walkers to give their pups their potty breaks while they're out of the house for extended periods, others elect to use doggy daycare, which is similar to human daycare and makes sure your dog is getting plenty of enrichment and socialization during the day, along with basic care like feeding and pottying.

Whether or not this is a good environment for your dog is going to be individual, depending on their needs and personalities — and the cost can sometimes be prohibitive (we're talking an average of $40 per day , according to Rover), especially if you're planning to use it full time.

But if it ends up being the right choice for you and your pup, it might just be worth it. And if there's a pool? No brainer!
