TRINITY COUNTY, Texas ( KETK ) – A man was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to solicitation of a minor, Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace announced on Tuesday.

Steven Myers, 47, was arrested after officials said he made inappropriate advances towards a minor while she was at work. The minor told her parents, who contacted the sheriff’s office, prompting an undercover investigation lasting several weeks.

According to Wallace, an investigator messaged Myers while undercover where Myers attempted to solicit someone he thought was a girl under 17-years-old for sexual favors. Officials said Myers also sent explicit pictures to who he thought was a minor, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

“Steven Myers finally made arrangements to meet the presumed juvenile and was taken into custody without incident,” officials said. “Aside from the initial encounter, the victim in this case was never in communication with or exposed to Steven Myers or otherwise placed in danger.”

Myers was later sentenced to six years in prison and a lifetime registration as a sex offender.
