YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man accused of beating his girlfriend and damaging her car was sentenced Tuesday to two years probation after pleading guilty to a reduced charge in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

The sentence, which was recommended by defense attorneys and upheld by Judge Anthony Donofrio, also sentenced Luis Rodriguez, 35, to time served in the Mahoning County jail — which was 101 days — after he was arrested last July by city police for a report of a fight on Ivanhoe Avenue.

Rodriguez had originally been charged with felonious assault — a second-degree felony — but he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony.
