Princess Anne and her husband are “deeply touched” by the outpouring of love as Anne continues to recover at Southmead Hospital.
Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence shared an update on his wife after visiting her in the hospital on June 25th. The 78-year-old is suffering memory loss caused by a concussion. Doctors believe her memory loss is only temporary.
“She is recovering well, thank you,” the vice admiral shared, per People . “We are both profoundly grateful to the medical team and hospital support staff for their expert care — and to the emergency services who were all so wonderful at the scene.”
“We are both deeply touched by all the kind messages we have received from so many people” he continued. “It means a great deal.”
Details Surrounding Princess Anne’s Accident Are Unclear
Princess Anne, an avid equestrian, was injured while working with her horses at her Gatcombe Park home on June 23. According to Buckingham Palace, she “sustained minor injuries and [a] concussion.”
“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery,” the palace announced in a statement.
“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery,” the statement continued.
Because of Princess Anne’s concussion, she cannot recall exactly what happened. However, doctors say her injuries appear to be from a horse’s hooves or head.
Anne will postpone her royal appearances until further notice “on doctors’ advice.”
The palace recently shared that Princess Anne “is recovering well, is in a comfortable condition, and is being kept in hospital as a precautionary measure for further observation.”
