AUSTIN - On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott announced the allocation of 20 Texas Talent Connection grants, totaling over $6.3 million.

“Texas dominates the nation in job creation thanks to the strength of our young, skilled, diverse, and growing workforce,” said Gov. Abbott. “Continuing to meet growing workforce demands across existing and emerging industries is critical to expanding opportunities for prosperity for more Texas families."

The Texas Workforce Investment Council within the Governor's Office of Economic Development & Tourism oversees the administration and application of the funds.

Some of the programs receiving the funds are Per Scholas, Inc., Houston’s Capital IDEA, Inc., and Bay Area Houston Advanced Technology Consortium. These workforce skills training and job placement programs serve nearby Fort Bend, Harris, and Brazoria counties.
