Daughter discovers her parents dead in murder-suicide in Preble County

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A daughter visting her parents’ home in Preble County Sunday discovered their bodies, dead from an apparent murder-suicide.

A call to the county 9-1-1 center around 10 a.m. Sunday brought deputies to the home in the 5600 block of Sonora Road. A female said she had found her parents’ bodies in the house.

When they arrived, deputies discovered the bodies of Angela Hayslett, 56, and Matthew Hayslett, 60. Both had been fatally shot, with preliminary investigation suggesting the man’s wound was self-inflicted.

The Haysletts’ bodies were taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office to be autopsied Monday.

The Preble County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office continue to investigate. Evidence is leading them to investigate it as a murder-suicide.
