Jonathan Jackson Opens up About His Return to GH

The soap world was rocked when it was revealed that the big return teased by executive producer Frank Valentini was Jonathan Jackson returning to General Hospital as the beloved character of Lucky Spencer ! Shortly after the news broke, the actor took to social media to share a quick video to speak to his loyal fans.

“Hey everyone,” Jackson said as he stood outside in the sunshine. “I just wanted to let you know that I will be returning to General Hospital this summer as Lucky Spencer. Super excited and can’t wait to dig in and see what’s going on in Port Charles. Excited to see Genie Francis (Laura), obviously, and so many others.

“Just wanted to say thank you to all of the fans over the years,” he continued. “Your persistence and love has certainly played a part in all of this. So I just wanted to say thank you. Also, to Frank Valentini and everybody at ABC for welcoming me back. Super excited. So… just sending much love and I guess I’ll be seeing you all fairly soon. God bless.”

Jackson said he’s “excited for the journey to continue,” and there are plenty of GH fans who are equally excited to see what Lucky’s been up to after all of these years. Luke and Laura’s son left Port Charles to live in Ireland back in 2011, but Lucky resurfaced in 2015 when he was kidnapped by Frank Smith and his parents teamed up to rescue him. (As part of Anthony Geary’s final storyline as Luke before the actor retired.)

At that time, Lucky mended fences with both his father as well as Liz and left town knowing that his children were in good hands with her. While he’s been mentioned occasionally, Lucky hasn’t been seen on screen since 2015.
