Construction underway at new Greene Central High School

SNOW HILL, N.C. (WNCT) — Construction is officially underway on a new high school in Eastern North Carolina.

After construction is complete, Greene Central High School will feature industry-like training facilities for new CTE labs, modern learning spaces that support collaboration as well as updated furniture and interiors. The new building will replace the original high school, which opened in 1961.

“We just have a more modern feel and a welcoming sense of a school that you want students and teachers to enjoy when you walk into a facility,” said Greene County Superintendent Frank Creech.

The project is going to take a couple of years with the goal to be complete by the 2026-27 school year. The official groundbreaking is set for July 19.
