CSP program expands, provides free auto theft devices

(COLORADO) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is expanding its popular steering wheel lock program to nine locations across the state.

As part of the Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority (CATPA), a CSP business unit, these wheel locks are available free of charge to residents of Colorado to help deter and prevent theft.
A steering wheel lock device helps increase physical vehicle security.

Community members must pick up a lock at their local Troop Office. Pickup offices are located at:

• Alamosa , 3110 First Street. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Castle Rock , Troop 1B Castleton Court. Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Colorado Springs , Troop 2B, 1480 Quail Lake Loop. Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Craig , 800 W. 1st Street #400. Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Durango , Troop 5A, 20591 Hwy 160. Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and any special events.
• Florence , 3rd Street Suite C. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Ft. Collins , Troop 3C, 3832 S. Interstate 25. Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Golden , Troop 1A/E, 1096 McIntyre St. Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Colorado Springs and Ft. Collins offices request individuals to bring a VIN number for registration. All members will need to provide a VIN number.

There is a two-steering wheel lock limit per person.
