OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) – It is a new era for sports in Fayette County.

Fayette County Schools takes out the old and brings in the new

Oak Hill and Midland Trail High Schools are getting new turf for their football and soccer fields.

Demolition has already begun at the fields, and workers are working on preparing the ground for the turf.

This will ensure that both schools’ soccer and football programs will have the opportunity to play and practice on these better-quality fields.

Midland Trail High School Football coach, Jeremy Moore, tells us how this new turf helps them to better navigate difficult weather conditions. “We’ve had to be very judicious on how we use the field. We’ve had to cancel JV games because of rain and mud, not wanting to destroy the field; not just for football, but for all sports that use it,” said Moore. “This will allow us to eliminate those kinds of circumstances and excuses. [It] allow us to really develop all kids across the board.”

Moore is hopeful that the turf will be completed by August 16 for their home opener on August 30.
