LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A family in Limestone County is proving you’re never too young to start your own business.

10-year-old twins Julie and Becca and their eight-year-old brother James Upton “have turned into real entrepreneurs” according to their mom, Ann.

The siblings run their own farm stand, selling fresh eggs, fruits & vegetables, freeze-dried candy, and homemade soap.

“We’ve just kind of encouraged them along the way, but it’s really been them every step of the way growing this business,” Ann said.

“We originally got chickens because we have five kids and we needed the eggs,” Ann said. “And it very quickly turned into friends and family asking if they could have some extra eggs.”

The kids have helped raise dozens of chickens and spend each morning tending to them and collecting their eggs.

Now, each morning the kids stock up the farm stand full of fresh eggs and wait for their customers to pull up.

The kids say they look forward to seeing their repeat customers.

“We have a couple of people that come every week,” they said.

Ann said they “sell out” of eggs every day.

As the egg side of the business has taken off, they’ve also added other homemade and homegrown items for sale.

The kids all help out with the family garden and have started to sell fresh fruits and vegetables as well.

“It’s really cool picking the blueberries and blackberries every day, the zucchini and cucumbers,” Julie said.

Ann told News 19 that the profits from their farm stand are going into a college fund for the kids. However, she said one of the real benefits is the skills they’ve learned along the way.

“It’s helped not just with the financial side of them saving for college, but it’s really encouraged them to communicate with adults and talk to people they don’t know and get out of their comfort zone a little bit,” she said.

Their farm stand is located off of Mockingbird Lane in Limestone County, just off Highway 72. They stock the stand every day except for Sundays and holidays.
