    Dillon County Council getting new member, keeps incumbent following runoff election

    DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The Dillon County Council will have a new face, after its vice-chairman lost Tuesday in a runoff contest, according to unofficial results.

    Meanwhile, incumbent chairwoman Detrice McCollum-Dawkins coasted to an easy victory in her contest.

    In County Council District 1, vice-chairman Jamal Campbell fell to James Bobie Washington, 71.3% to 28.6% with all 10 precincts reporting as of 8 p.m.

    In District 3, Dawkins took 61.8% of the vote to challenger Toni Graves’ 38.1%, according to state Election Commission results.

    Both races were among Democrats.

    Voter turnout was 26.5%, with 1,259 ballots cast. Results will be certified in the coming days.
