Singer-songwriter and reality TV star Kandi Burruss is the latest celebrity to reveal that they have jumped on the trendy Ozempic train, only she admits that she stopped taking it and is back on Hydroxycut because the drug didn’t curb her appetite or anything!
While speaking with Page Six’s ‘ Virtual Reali-Tea ‘ podcast, the 48-year-old former ‘ Real Housewives of Atlanta ‘ star revealed she “tried” out Ozempic last year after seeing so many great results. She said, “I saw so many people who were trying it and losing weight.”
Burruss said she knew a “ton” of women, including former ‘ Real Housewives of Atlanta ‘ cast member Marlo Hampton , who had achieved great success with taking the medication. She explained, “So I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to try this.’ And I didn’t lose any weight.'”
Those in the singer’s inner circle reasoned that “something must be wrong” or maybe she just needed to simply take a “higher dosage” to be able to see any real difference and lose weight. Kandi Burruss said that even the doctor who prescribed her the Ozempic medication was dumbfounded by her body’s response. She recalled, “My doctor was like, ‘I don’t know what the problem is, I’m not seeing this in other people.'”
It’s to be noted that Ozempic hit the market as an FDA-approved prescription drug initially designed for Type II Diabetes patients. Ozempic is further described as one of the many brand names for the drug semaglutide, which targets the brain, signaling it to maintain satiety and suppress one’s appetite.
Despite this, Kandi Burruss said, “[Ozempic] didn’t curb my appetite. I know some people are like, ‘Oh, I can’t eat.’ Not me! I was eating appetizers, a regular meal, and dessert, OK? It didn’t stop anything for me.” Being that her body didn’t positively react to the Ozempic, Burruss admitted that she felt sad, explaining, “When you see it worked for other people and it doesn’t work for you, it makes you depressed. Realistically, it makes you feel like, ‘What is wrong? Why is it not working for me?’”
Kandi Burruss added, “After I left ‘Housewives,’ I was eating good, living good. Now, mind you, I was already 10 pounds over my desired weight at the top of the year. But then, when I announced that I was not going to do ‘Housewives’ anymore, I was eating dessert every day, taking trips, just living it up. Before I knew it, I was like 170-something pounds. And it was not cute.”
Kandi Burruss said that in her younger years in the music and entertainment industry, before Ozempic, she would maintain her preferred weight by using Hydroxycut. She said recently, “My team, they reached out to the Hydroxycut team and we worked it out. So I started out just changing my eating habits and using Hydroxycut twice a day and I lost 10 pounds in like three and a half weeks. I’m feeling good.”
Along with the Hydroxycut and its main ingredient (C. canephora robusta, a non-stimulant compound found in green coffee shown to metabolize carbs, fats, and proteins with vitamin B), Kandi Burruss said she is working with a trainer with a “good workout plan.” She added, “While I’m on tour, I’m going to make the most of the gyms at the hotels and I’m going to work out so many days a week, stick to the eating correctly and [do] Hydroxycut and see how it goes. So I’m excited. Pray for that I can stick to it!”
She continued, “My ultimate goal is to basically lose 20 pounds to get back to where I was last year, overall. But I would love, love to overall lose 30 so that I can be into my 130hyds. I have this joke, like, I haven’t weighed 130-something since I was 30-something. It has been years since I felt like I was real slim and trim — slim-thick, as I like to call it. It’s been a minute and I would love to just see myself get back to that, to my best self.”
