Shiner Gaslight stages ‘In Praise of Miss Brown’

The Shiner Gaslight Theatre will soon open “In Praise of Miss Brown,” the heart-warming story that is a tribute to teachers everywhere. Set in the mid-60's, Miss Brown does her best to teach her students, even by having after school lessons at her home. But, of course, the students don't know they're actually learning anything. They just adore Miss Brown!

This very talented cast and crew bring the story to life. The students Rowena Taggert and Wally Baker are played by Abrianna Johnson and Michael Silgero, recent graduates of Hallettsville High School. Annie Dorfman and Bo Dumphries are played by Yoakum High School students Allison Cardona and Brayden Self, and Michael Terrill is played by Tyler Hemphill, a Shiner HS student. Lights and sound are handled by Shiner student Alena Winkenwerder. Adult cast members include Anna Neskora of Moulton as Miss Brown, Sarah Liberti of Gonzales as Miss Brown's mother, Luke Maier of Cuero as Alvin Burrows, and Bill Matthys of Cuero as the Narrator. Stage Manager, Steve Liberti of Gonzales, is assisted by St. Paul student Celestine Filip and Shiner High School students Madeline Collins and Gracie Baker.

Performances are Fri., Sat., and Sun., July 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 and August 2, 3 and 4. A Wednesday performance is on July 24th. All are in the evening except for Sunday matinees. Regular tickets go on sale Mon. June 26th.
