MANITOWOC – Manitowoc County Board appointed Kathy Reissmann as county treasurer during the board's meeting June 18.

Reissmann was previously the clerk/treasurer for the village of Mishicot and will now take the place of Amy Kocian, whose resignation went into effect June 17.

The County Treasurer Office receives and disburses money from all county departments and is typically an elected position with a four-year term. Reissmann is expected to fill out the remainder of the current term, which ends in January 2025.

The election for county treasurer will take place in November, alongside the presidential election. Reissmann filed as a candidate for the election May 17 and is the only candidate in the county treasurer race. All nomination papers had to be filed by June 1.

A new TID includes the site formerly known as the Lakeshore Mall.

The money created from the district will pay the costs of acquiring the property, demolition of the remaining structures and installation of infrastructure needed to redevelop the site.

The Manitowoc Common Council unanimously approved the plan during its meeting June 17, and the Tax Incremental Financing Joint Review Board will meet June 27 to vote on the final approval.

The vote took place during the council's June 17 meeting.

When completed, this project will connect the Mariners Trail to Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo. It has been partially funded by a $369,400 grant from the State of Wisconsin Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program and a $100,000 grant from the West Foundation.
