DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. – A police pursuit on I-69 led to a crash and the arrest of three people on various charges.

According to Indiana State Police, the incident started when a state trooper noticed a Ford Ranger speeding on I-69 near mile marker 237 around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the pickup took off, leading to a brief chase that ended after about four miles, when the truck went off the road and crashed near State Road 332.

Four people in the truck got out and ran off; Indiana State Police used a helicopter to search for them. With assistance from the Daleville Police Department K9, all four people were located and taken into custody.

Three men were arrested on various charges, while a juvenile found with them was later released into the custody of a relative.

During a search of the vehicle, police found marijuana, a pair of Glock handguns and pills believed to contain fentanyl.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 19-year-old Darrion Rae Shaun Hill, of Muncie, faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement and driving while suspended with a prior.

One of the passengers, 24-year-old Adrian Jarell Wright, faces preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and resisting law enforcement.

Police said Wright also had six active warrants out of Delaware County for offenses ranging from possession of methamphetamine to possession of cocaine, battery and criminal recklessness with a firearm, among others.

A third man, 28-year-old Marquese Bell, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and resisting law enforcement.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Daleville Police Department, Eaton Police Department and Gaston Police Department assisted state police with the investigation.
