‘Walking LYING MACHINE’: Trump Launches New and Baseless Attacks on Biden Before First Debate in Early Morning Rant

Former President Donald Trump started the day before his first 2024 debate with President Joe Biden by making curious attacks of “DISINFORMATION” that was only marginally rooted in the facts.

The CNN Debate between the two presumptive nominees is set for Thursday. Trump posted on social media some of his trademark ALL CAPS attacks on Biden, particularly regarding how the commander-in-chief is a “walking LYING MACHINE,” but either the facts don’t support his claims, or Biden was conspiratorially directing a number of negative news narratives for Trump from behind the scenes.

The comments opened with reports that CNN will not offer mid-debate fact-checking, which Trump claims is good news for Biden and his handlers because nobody is as “loose with the TRUTH as Crooked Joe.” Then, he lists a number of samples to prove his point, which we will get to in a moment.

In the 6 a.m. hour Wednesday morning, Trump posted on Truth Social:

Crooked Joe Biden’s “Handlers” are loudly and profusely complaining that there will be no Fact Checkers during the Debate on Thursday. Actually, that is just DISINFORMATION – They could not be happier, because there is nobody that’s as loose with the TRUTH as Crooked Joe. From the 51 Fake Intelligence Agents, to Russia, Russia, Russia, to the Fake “Suckers and Losers Story” he created about our beloved Military, to cheating in College and saying he was first in his Law School Class when he was actually LAST, to claiming he marched for Civil Rights, drove trucks, and has a 6.2 Handicap (He can’t hit the Golf Ball 10 yards, but that’s a minor detail!), and so many more falsehoods, the man is a walking LYING MACHINE, and a Fact Checker’s DREAM. Maybe we should call him “Lyin’ Joe” in addition to Crooked?

Taking Trump’s allegations at face value, he paints a remarkably sharp, conniving, and powerful portrait of Biden — a picture that stands in stark contrast to that of the bumbling fool Trump and many of his media surrogates typiccally paint. However, Trump also seems a bit confused about the facts. Allow me to check them.

Trump wrote: “From the 51 Fake Intelligence Agents to Russia, Russia, Russia, to the Fake “Suckers and Losers Story” he created about our beloved Military.” This an array of negative stories, all of which came out when Biden was not in the office.

The “51 Fake Intelligence Agents” is in reference to a now notorious and often misreported memo signed by former Intel officers who said that the Hunter Biden laptop story looked like Russian disinformation. The laptop proved to be real, but the provenance of a mysterious hard drive handed over to the New York Post by Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani — who was looking for Biden dirt in Ukraine and openly spending time with known Russian intel figures? Well, the memo proved to be accurate — it DID look like Russian disinformation in the first few days it was released. The contents of the laptop have proven to be politically disastrous for Hunter Biden.

Speaking of Russia, the “Russia, Russia, Russia” dig is intended to signal the years-long investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence, which led to zero indictments or recriminations. But Trump’s campaign DID coordinate with Russian intelligence operations, as we clearly detailed in the S enate Intelligence Committee report, Volume V , which was a Republican-led committee.

Trump citing the “Fake Suckers and Losers Story” actually emanated from his former Chief of Staff and DHS Secretary, General John Kelly , which was first rebutted as “fake news” by Trump media surrogates when it was first reported in The Atlantic , but later confirmed when Kelly went on the record to describe how Trump insulted the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice and are buried in Normandy.

Now, Biden has been caught in several exaggerations and hyperbole, but he is a politician, and that’s the sort of thing we expect from him AND Trump. Biden claimed he finished in the top half of his class in Law School , which was not accurate, but he has never claimed that he finished 76th out of 85 students.

It’s not clear if Biden ever claimed he finished first in Law School, as Trump insisted, but he also didn’t finish last, as Trump claimed, which was clearly a lie and/or disinformation in and of itself.
