ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A new digital teacher recruitment initiative was launched by the New York State Education Department and TEACH. TeachNY.org will offer prospective teachers an opportunity to explore the profession, access free resources, get straightforward information, and receive support in applying to educator programs statewide.

The website offers one-on-one and group advising from state teachers and certification experts, a database of scholarships and funding for future teachers, a search tool to find state teaching programs, reimbursements for application and testing fees, prep for teaching tests, and email encouragement and reminders.

“More than any other profession, teaching determines our future,” said New York State Department of Education commissioner Betty Rosa. “That is why we must always support our teachers, from first-year novices to expert practitioners. Partnering with TeachNY will strengthen New York’s educator pipeline, encouraging well-qualified, highly motivated individuals to enter and remain in the profession.”

“We must continually design, develop, and implement innovative approaches that nurture a highly skilled, diverse teaching workforce,” said Board of Regents Chancellor Lester W. Young, Jr. “TeachNY is precisely the kind of initiative that will inspire and ignite the future generation of New York State teachers.”
