WALKER — Cass County Board of Commissioners and Cass County Opioid Settlement Committee have opened Opioid Settlement Fund Applications to Remediate Opioids in Cass County with a deadline of Aug. 31.

Community organizations and partners are invited to apply including schools, health care providers, treatment and recovery providers.

An estimated $400,000 is available in funding, which will run from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30, 2025. The estimated award will be up to $50,000. No matching funds are required.

Cass County is looking to use the funds to help establish new, sustainable programs or to expand existing programs that will aid the community in remediation of opioids. The eligible areas of focus are harm reduction, prevention, criminal justice, and treatment and recovery.

The funds will be competitive, with applications reviewed by a committee of professionals with a broad range of relevant experience. The application for the funds is available on the Cass County website www.casscountymn.gov along with an Opioid Abatement Strategies by Sector guide for more information. Applications should be submitted by email no later than Aug. 31. Recipients of the funds will be announced at Cass County Board meetings.

All questions about the process and application should be directed to Jamie Richter, Cass County Health, Human and Veteran Services, Public Health Planner at Jamie.richter@casscountymn.gov or (218) 547-6833.

The funding is provided by a multi-million-dollar settlement with the state of Minnesota with opioid distributors and manufacturers. Cass County is expecting to receive $3.3 million between 2022 and 2038.
