    Police Logs: Nonverbal child wanders off

    The police dispatch center receives several hundred calls weekly. The small sampling below shows their diversity.

    Monday, June 1711:08 a.m. Rice Lake fire chief requests page for all call HASMAT incident in Rusk County. Report to station.

    3:25 p.m. Caller says that his dog had gotten out and was found two houses to the east of his residence. When his children went to pick the dog up and bring it home it began seizing and they located BBs inside the dog’s head. Caller believes a neighbor shot his dog. Dog is currently at the emergency vet being worked on, unknown if it will survive. 4:27 p.m. Spoke to four different neighbors and none of them heard or saw anything. 26 7/8 Ave., Mikana.

    6:57 p.m. Caller says his nephew’s goat is missing from his farm and he believes it was stolen. Believes the brother’s now ex-girlfriend took it this morning. She is fond of the goat and thinks of it more as a pet. He doesn’t know of anyone else who may have taken it. 7:54 p.m. Ex-girlfriend does have the goat. Officer left a message and will talk with her when she calls back. 8:08 p.m. She will return the goat tomorrow. 1st St., Clayton.

    Tuesday, June 18

    4:51 p.m. Jail called requesting a deputy respond to the booking area referencing possible 961 located on a subject who was recently brought in. 5:04 p.m. The suspicious substance was the subject’s son’s ashes. Barron.

    6:52 p.m. Neighbor’s dog is quite thin, lives outside, does not have water and is clearly warm as it’s a husky. Caller is concerned for the dog and is unaware of who the neighbors are. She is willing to fill out a statement if needed. 7:04 p.m. Officer says the dog appears very happy and cared for. 3rd St., Cameron.

    Wednesday, June 19

    7:26 a.m. Officer is out with an RV at the boat landing. 7:35 a.m. Female subject is going through a divorce and is homeless. The camper was parked at that location last week and again last night. She was advised there is no overnight camping. Chetek.

    4:36 p.m. Anonymous caller reports a road rage incident. Fiat was scaring her. Since she was following the vehicle, she was told to turn around and go the other way. She then advised the vehicle turned off. She does not want to make a complaint. 28th Ave. & 22nd St., Rice Lake.

    7:04 p.m. Car vs. dog. Damage to the vehicle. Dog is still alive. 7:37 p.m. Officer is en route to Eau Claire vet with the dog. 7:39 p.m. The dog was leashed but had escaped from the owner and was running loose. 9:37 p.m. The dog was euthanized. 14th Ave., Turtle Lake.

    7:47 p.m. Four-year-old ate something that is possibly rat poison. Olson Ave., Barron.

    Thursday, June 206:30 a.m. 911 caller says she woke up this morning and her 8-year-old nonverbal daughter is not at the residence. Caller advised someone heard the door open about 20 minutes ago and they believe she went out the front door. 6:40 a.m. Another 911 caller says he woke up and there is a young girl in his residence. Advised caller her name and she is nonverbal. Advised caller to keep the girl at his residence until law enforcement arrives. 6:43 a.m. Officer is with girl and will be walking her home. 6:49 a.m. Girl was reunited with her family. Poplar Ave., Cameron.

    3:03 p.m. Caller says there is an injured goose in his yard that needs to be dispatched. He advised he feels comfortable doing it himself if it’s OK for him to do so. 6½ Ave., Chetek.

    Friday, June 211:10 a.m. Caller says that his ex-girlfriend is threatening and harassing him. She is telling her coworkers that he is going to kill her and that he is crazy. She has told him that she is going to burn his house down and put sugar in his gas tank. He did not wish to speak to anyone about this, just wanted it documented. 27th St., Rice Lake.

    Saturday, June 229:58 a.m. Caller says there is a softball tournament today and a homeless male subject currently is on scene. She was requesting a phone call. Ann St., Rice Lake.

    Sunday, June 234:23 a.m. Female subject called 911 stating she was beaten up by her boyfriend in the stairwell of the hotel. Her boyfriend is currently downstairs. There is a 15-year-old with her. She is currently back at the hotel room. No weapons that she is aware of. Refused EMS. 5:01 a.m. Have him at gun point in the vehicle. He’s refusing to exit. 5:19 a.m. The 72-hour no contact will be enforced. Highways 8 & 63, Turtle Lake.

    1:01 p.m. Caller says she is at a store and when she went back out to her vehicle someone advised her that a snake had crawled up into her vehicle. She believes it was the same snake she saw at her cabin this morning. 1:29 p.m. No locate on the snake.

    1:25 p.m. 911 caller says his vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. He advised the airbags did deploy and he is requesting an ambulance. Paged MMC ambulance, Rice Lake Fire and first responders. 3:46 p.m. The vehicle has been removed. Highway SS & 26¾ Ave., Rice Lake.

    9:17 p.m. Caller says there is a lot of gray smoke possibly coming from residence on Marshall Street. Would like it checked on. 9:27 p.m. There is smoke in the area. They will attempt to make contact with a homeowner. 9:33 p.m. The homeowners were told to put the fire out and burn no more. Rice Lake.
